The Florida Deer Association (FLDA) is an advocate group to promote and ensure the enduring heritage and sport of hunting and the proliferation of the cervidae (deer family) population within the State of Florida. Furthermore, the FLDA is dedicated to the promotion of ethical and responsible herd management of both native and captive cervidae, including their farm breeding and ranching as an agricultural pursuit, namely by those who raise cervidae for hunting and other commercial purposes. The FLDA also serves its diverse membership through its educational programs and publications and by providing leadership in setting and maintaining quality standards and ethics for hunters, game farmers and ranchers alike. Such promotion by the FLDA is further dedicated to scientific research and public education to improve the health and continued availability of Florida’s Deer (cervid) population.

The FLDA membership is becoming a powerful and unified voice committed to working with the general public and the State of Florida’s regulatory agencies to positively- influence public opinion and shape necessary legislation for the betterment of all outdoor sportsmen and the deer hunting and breeding industries throughout Florida.


The Florida Deer Association exists to:

  • Increase quality hunting opportunities for all hunters in Florida, residents and visitors alike. To achieve this goal, the FLDA advocates wise management practices, promotes research and technology regarding improvements to deer herds through the practice of controlled breeding and genetic improvements and recognizes that hunting and wildlife management are lifelong enterprises.
  • Establish, encourage and facilitate an exchange of ideas on breeding, handling and deer farm management among its members.
  • Promote deer farming and ranching and venison consumption in Florida.
  • To acquire and distribute information on all aspects of deer farming and ranching to its members.
  • Provide a forum for the solution of deer farming and ranching challenges and to keep members informed regarding the implementation of such solutions.
  • Represent the deer hunting, farming and ranching industries to all levels of government and to other related organizations.
  • Provide a registry for privately-owned cervidae.
  • Establish and promote ethical standards of conduct and husbandry in deer farming and ranching, as well as in deer hunting.
  • Establish, promote and actively market standards for deer and deer products.
  • Continually seek to improve the image and awareness of deer management and hunting through public education.
